Labour ties no problem for Irvin

JOE Irvin, the new chief executive of Navca, England’s local voluntary sector support body, says his Labour affiliations will not affect his role. Irvin is a former adviser to Gordon Brown and John Prescott, and applied for Labour General Secretary in June. “All I care about is if the government is doing good things for the local voluntary sector,” he said. He also held senior roles in the Transport & General Workers’ Union.
