COMMUNITY Jobs Scotland this week found employment for the 1,000th person since the scheme started five months ago.

Twenty-one year old John Barr was named as the 1,000th employee to get work through the third sector-run scheme and is now working as a trainee outdoor instructor at the Adventure Centre for Education in Girvan, Ayrshire.

Created by SCVO, the government-backed scheme creates jobs for young people between the ages of 18-25 for a minimum of six months and aims to deliver 2,000 paid jobs through a network of nearly 500 third sector organisations.

“Life is pretty boring when you’ve no money and nothing to keep you busy. Finding work through CJS has been great,” said John.
